Frequently Asked Questions

What are the system requirements?

SimToolbox requires macOS with Xcode installed. Simulator runtimes are provided by Xcode, so at least one runtime must be available for SimToolbox to discover devices.

Which simulator types are supported?

SimToolbox supports iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS simulators — any runtime installed through Xcode.

Why does SimToolbox need access to my Developer folder?

SimToolbox reads simulator data from ~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/. On first launch, you'll be prompted to grant access to this folder. The app uses security-scoped bookmarks to remember this permission so you only need to grant it once.

Why am I seeing "No simulators found"?

This usually means the app's permission to access the Developer folder has become stale — for example, after updating Xcode or switching between app builds. Open SimToolbox settings and use "Reset Permissions" to re-grant access.

Does SimToolbox collect any data?

No. SimToolbox collects no personal data, makes no network connections, and includes no analytics or tracking. Everything happens locally on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Where can I get SimToolbox?

SimToolbox is available on the Mac App Store.
